These terms explain ordering from Hollowstead Seed Co., payment, shipping, backorders, and use of our website. Our Refund Policy explains returns and seed-quality concerns. If something is unclear or goes wrong, get in touch so we can help.

Who these terms apply to

Hollowstead Seed Co. is a Missouri-based online seed shop operating hollowsteadseeds.com. “Hollowstead,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Hollowstead Seed Co. These terms apply to purchases from this website and explain permitted use of our website and customer accounts.

By placing an order, you agree to these terms and the applicable product and checkout information presented for that purchase. You must be legally able to enter into the purchase and authorized to use the payment method you provide. Our Privacy Policy separately explains how we handle personal information.

Orders, prices, and payment

Our current catalog sells seeds for planting, not live plants. Product listings identify the variety, packet quantity, and any collection contents. Review those details, availability, your delivery address, and the final total before placing an order.

Prices are in U.S. dollars. Applicable shipping charges, discounts, and taxes appear at checkout. Payment is processed through Stripe and the payment methods available at checkout; any separate payment-provider agreement also applies to your use of that payment service.

An order confirmation records the order we received; it does not mean the order has shipped. If a stock, pricing, listing, address, or payment problem prevents us from fulfilling an order as placed, we will contact you about the available options or cancel and refund the affected unfulfilled purchase. We will not charge a higher price or substitute a different variety without your agreement.

Prices, promotions, and product availability may change for future purchases. A later price or policy change does not retroactively change the terms of an order you already placed.

Shipping and backorders

We currently ship to the 48 contiguous United States. Standard shipping is $5.95, with free shipping at $35 or more in qualifying value. Eligible collections count at the current regular packet value of their included individual packets, so the collection discount does not reduce that qualifying value. Destination and coupon rules still apply. Review the shipping options and final total shown at checkout, including the effect of any discount.

Orders containing only in-stock items normally ship within 2 weekdays (Monday–Friday) via USPS with tracking. This is our dispatch window; carrier delivery time is additional. Orders containing a backordered item follow the whole-order timing below.

A backorder is an order for an item expected to become available later. Read the expected ship-by information on the product and during checkout before ordering. A ship-by date concerns dispatch from Hollowstead, not arrival at your address; carrier transit time is additional.

If your order includes a backordered item, we hold the whole order and ship it together once all items are available. This includes any in-stock items ordered with it. If you need the in-stock items sooner, place them in a separate order; each order has its own shipping total at checkout.

If we cannot ship within the time stated for your order, we will notify you, explain the revised timing if known, and offer the choice to wait or cancel for a prompt refund of the unshipped portion and any associated refundable shipping charges. We will obtain consent to a delay and cancel/refund when required by applicable law. Agreeing to these terms is not advance consent to an unspecified shipping delay.

Provide an accurate delivery address and an email address where you can receive order updates. Contact us promptly about a delivery problem or a package that appears lost. We will review the tracking and circumstances with you; a tracking entry alone does not resolve every delivery dispute.

Cancellation and address changes

Contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or change an address. As explained in our Refund Policy, we will try to help before the order is packed or handed off for shipment, but may be unable to stop or redirect an order already in fulfillment or transit. This practical limitation does not remove any cancellation right you have under applicable law.

An incorrectly entered customer address is not automatically a Hollowstead fulfillment error. If a package is returned to us, we will discuss available reshipment or refund options based on the actual shipping cost and the condition of the returned order.

Returns, refunds, and seed-quality concerns

Our Refund Policy is part of the purchase terms and provides the full process. Its normal reporting windows are:

Contact us before mailing a return. Opened packets are generally not returnable for a change of mind, but we will investigate a reported quality problem. Do not send opened seed, soil, plants, or plant material unless we specifically request it.

For an approved change-of-mind return, the refund is based on the amount paid for the returned item. Original and return shipping are normally not refundable. If we require a return because of our fulfillment error, we cover reasonable return shipping. Applicable legal rights may require a different remedy.

Depending on the issue, a remedy may include replacement, refund for the affected item, or another appropriate solution. Store credit is an option if you prefer it. Approved refunds normally go to the original payment method; the payment processor and bank affect when the credit appears.

If this summary and the Refund Policy differ, the Refund Policy provides the more specific return procedure. Neither document limits a remedy that applicable law requires.

Seed performance and growing information

Seeds are living agricultural products. Storage, temperature, moisture, planting depth, light, soil or growing medium, weather, pests, disease, and biological variation affect results. As stated in our Refund Policy, we cannot promise a particular germination percentage in your home conditions, a specific harvest, or a particular garden outcome unless a written product guarantee says otherwise. This does not excuse an inaccurate label or a genuine product defect.

Growing guides, maturity ranges, spacing suggestions, and illustrations help you plan; they are not promises of an identical result in every garden. An illustration is not a photograph or test report for the individual seed lot supplied. Follow the packet information and applicable local planting restrictions, and ask us to clarify conflicting instructions.

Seeds sold for planting are not sold as food, feed, or medicine. Descriptions of culinary uses refer to correctly identified, appropriately grown and prepared harvests—not permission to eat the planting seed. Growing guidance does not replace pesticide labels or other legally required instructions.

Website use and customer accounts

Keep your account credentials private and your order/contact details accurate. Let us know if you suspect unauthorized account use. You may not use the site to submit fraudulent orders, impersonate another person, attempt unauthorized access, distribute malicious code, or deliberately interfere with the store.

We may restrict abusive or unauthorized website/account access. Doing so does not erase an existing obligation to fulfill an accepted order or provide an applicable refund or other remedy.

You may read, link to, and print our growing information for your own gardening use. Hollowstead or the relevant rights holders retain rights in website text, illustrations, branding, and other material. Ask before republishing or commercially reusing material, except where the law already permits that use. Third-party reference links lead to websites we do not operate.

Your rights and resolving concerns

We would like the opportunity to understand and resolve a problem, so please contact us with your order number and a clear description. This request does not limit lawful payment-dispute options, complaints to authorities, court access, or other non-waivable rights.

These terms explain our normal store practices. They do not exclude warranties, responsibilities, or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded. A written product guarantee and applicable consumer law continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future website use and purchases. Material changes will have an updated effective date. The version in effect when you placed an order continues to apply to that purchase, unless a change is required by law or we separately agree otherwise.
