Description
START WITH WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY EAT
Seven packets for a useful little kitchen garden.
Black Cherry tomato, Jimmy Nardello sweet pepper, Royal Burgundy bush bean, Lemon cucumber, Thai Basil, Mammoth Long Island Dill, and Red Sails lettuce cover a lot of everyday garden territory without turning your first order into the entire seed catalog.
Choose it for: fresh eating, simple summer cooking, salads, pickles, herbs, and a garden that earns its space.
WHAT’S INSIDE
Vegetables and herbs that make sense together in the kitchen.
Black Cherry
Dark cherry tomatoes for grazing, salads, and repeated summer picking on a vigorous supported vine.
Jimmy Nardello
A long sweet frying pepper that is especially useful once the fruit ripens red.
Royal Burgundy
Purple snap pods on a bush plant—useful when you want beans without dedicating a tall trellis to them.
Lemon Cucumber
Round yellow cucumbers for fresh eating and a little visual variety in the summer harvest.
Thai Basil
A fragrant warm-season herb with green leaves and purple stems for fresh cooking.
Mammoth Long Island Dill
Fresh dill foliage first, then flower and seed heads later if you let the plants mature.
Red Sails Lettuce
A red-tipped looseleaf lettuce for cool-season salads and small repeat sowings.
ONE COLLECTION, SEVERAL PLANTING JOBS
Treat each crop like itself.
This is a kitchen-garden collection, not a promise that all seven crops share one sowing date. Tomato, pepper, cucumber, basil, beans, dill, and lettuce each have different temperature, spacing, and support needs. Red Sails belongs in the cooler part of the season; plan the warm-season vegetables and basil after frost and suitable soil warmth. Use each packet and variety page to decide when and where it belongs.
Royal Burgundy stays bushy, while the tomato and cucumber benefit from support. That mix helps you use vertical and ground-level space rather than asking every crop to climb.
A SAMPLE ALLOCATION
Start with a few plants, then use the rest of the seed later.
For a garden with a sunny bed plus two separately supported spots, consider one Black Cherry tomato on a sturdy support, one Jimmy Nardello pepper, a short row of 6–8 Royal Burgundy bean plants, one Lemon Cucumber on its own trellis or spreading area, two Thai Basil plants, a small pinch of Mammoth Dill in a separate patch, and a short cool-season sowing of Red Sails lettuce. This is a sample, not a claim that those seven crops fit a particular bed. Check each packet’s spacing, your available sun, and frost dates before sowing; keep the remaining seed for later sowings or another season.
| Crop | Sample start | Space and support |
|---|---|---|
| Black Cherry tomato | Start indoors, then transplant after frost | One vine on a sturdy support |
| Jimmy Nardello pepper | Start indoors, then transplant into warmth | One plant with its own growing space |
| Royal Burgundy bean | Direct sow into warm soil | Short row of 6–8 bush plants |
| Lemon Cucumber | Direct sow into warm soil or use a brief indoor start | One vine on a separate trellis or open ground |
| Thai Basil | Start in warmth; transplant or sow after cold risk | Two plants with room to branch |
| Mammoth Dill | Direct sow on its packet schedule | Small separate patch; allow height and reseeding space |
| Red Sails lettuce | Sow small batches in cool weather | A short row or separate container with room for looseleaf rosettes |
A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING
Before you add the collection.
Can I substitute one of the seven varieties?
No. This is a fixed bundle. Every included variety is also sold separately if you want to build your own seven-packet order.
Will this fit in one raised bed?
That depends on the bed size and how many plants you grow from each packet. A full tomato vine, cucumber, peppers, beans, and herbs can use more room than one small bed. Think of the packets as a season’s seed supply, not an instruction to plant every seed at once.
Are these full-size packets?
Yes. Each is the same full-size Hollowstead packet sold individually.
Do I have to plant everything this year?
No. Sow what fits your space and store the remaining seed cool, dry, and dark. Seed longevity varies by crop and storage conditions, so fresher is generally better.
